Download Your Bitcoin Client
Which client should I choose?
A Bitcoin client, also known as a 'wallet', allows you to engage in transactions with other Bitcoin users. A client gives you access to your own Bitcoin 'addresses' and allows you to send and receive Bitcoins all over the world. You can learn more about the different clients available to download on this page.
This is the original Bitcoin client. It's secure, safe, and the established 'standard' of Bitcoin trading. However, compared to other clients, it is more resource intensive and takes up more space. Available in Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
If you're looking for a lighter, yet similarly secure client, MultiBit is a good choice. It's also available in more languages, so it's particularly useful if you don't want to operate in the default English language. Available in Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
Advanced Bitcoin users that want a more robust and technical platform will be better suited to use Armory. Boasting the 'highest level of security', and a plethora of backup and encryption tools, Bitcoin users that deal in larger transactions and investments will most likely opt to use a platform like Armory over the standard client. Available only in Windows and Linux.
Want to use Bitcoin on your phone? This small and lightweight app lets you do just that. Send payments quickly and easily from your smartphone by scanning a QR code or by touching two phones together (NFC). Currently available for Android and Blackberry OS.
